Bombers Open GCL Play with a Win
The Bowling Bombers looked to bounce back from the Mason loss on Monday with the Lancers at home. The Lancers dropped a close match against Fairfield 2617 to 2598 earlier this week.
In game one, the Lancers threw games of 253 and 223 for a first round total of 962. For the Bombers, juniors Andrew Berkemeier, Tyler Brown, and Keegan Barbee got the scoring started early with games of 226, 216, and 203. St. X took a 12 pin lead into game 2 with a score of 974.
The Bombers and Lancers switched pairs and struggled as the lanes broke down. La Salle rolled only one game north of 200 for a round 2 score of 901. Andrew Berkemeier continued his day with a 223 for a 449 series. Aaron Bickford rolled a 188 for a 364 series and Keegan completed his 375 series with a 172. Brady Johnson also shot a 174 in game two. The Bombers shot an 896 to see a 7 pin lead of 1870 to 1863 to head to bakers.
In bakers, the Bombers got hot in game one rolling 4 strikes to put a 226 to La Salle's 156. The Bombers lead of 77 pins was quickly cut to 60 in game two as the Bombers shot 175 while the Lancers put up a 192. The Lancers continued to cut the lead down with a 213 to 204 match up in game 3. Heading into the fourth baker, the Bombers led by 51. The Lancers had a chance to tie it till a spare shot in the 7th allowed the Bombers to hold onto a small pin lead with La Salle outshooting St. X 223 to 212 in game four. The Bombers 817 baker series to La Salle's 784 was enough to cinch a 40 pin victory. The St X Bombers open GCL play with a win, 2687 to 2647.
The Bombers move to 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the GCL. The Lancers fall to 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in the GCL.
Record Performances:
The Bombers have now beaten La Salle in 3 straight head to head matches. The Bombers swept the Lancers in one on one matches but La Salle beat the Bombers in both quads last year. The 817 baker series is the 46th best series in school history. The Bombers now have a 20 and 56 record against the Lancers dating back to the 2001-2002 season.
Upcoming Schedule:
The Bombers begin their road work for the rest of December with games at Northwest High School on the 6th, at Crossgate against Moeller on the 8th, and then in the Holiday Classic on the 11th. The Bombers then have their first GCL quad of the year at Northwest Lanes on the 13th and finish December off with an away match against Lakota West at Gilmore Lanes.

The Elder panthers won on the road against Moeller 2926 to 2407. The Bombers sit tied in the lead with Elder at 1-0. La Salle and Moeller sit in third at 0-1.
