Bombers Finish Second in GCL Conference, 4th in Quad

On Thursday, February 2nd, the Bowling Bombers met up with the rest of the GCL for the final quad match of the season with the GCL title on the line.  The Bombers entered the title tilt tied for first with Elder and held a one game lead over La Salle.  Moeller entered the match in 4th.  

The Bombers started on shaky ground as they struggled to find their footing on the approach and on the score board.  Keegan Barbee was game high for the Bombers with a 191 and Brady Johnson completed a 171.  No other Bomber threw higher than a 156 in game one as the Bombers finished with a 794.  Elder took an early lead with a 1022 thanks to Parker Nowlin's 235.  La Salle sat second with a 955 with Tyler Richmond shooting a 214.  Moeller was third with a 939 and Luke Kwiatkoswki putting up a 225.  

In game 2, the Bombers improved to a team total of 898 with Andrew Berkemeier shooting a 233 for a 384 series.  Brady Johnson rolled a 180 for a 351 series.  The Bombers total after 2 of 1692 was fourth best for the team.  Elder's 2 game total of 1991 was helped by CJ Herbers' 247.  Moeller moved into second with an 1878 and Dominic Kwiatkowski shooting a 234.  La Salle fell to third with an 1877 and only Quentin Morgan breaking a 200 for the Lancers.  
In bakers, the Bombers could not rally rolling games of 167, 181, 227, and 165 for a series of 740.  The Elder Panthers shot a 755, but the Moeller Crusaders helped the Bombers by shooting an 819 to the Lancers' 775.  The Elder Panthers would win the quad with a 2746, followed by the Moeller Crusaders at 2697, La Salle with a 2652, and St. X with a 2432.  

Record Performances
The Bombers have finished 2nd in the GCL for the third year in a row.  The Bombers have not finished last in the GCL since 2006.  The Bombers last title in the league was in the 2011-2012 season when they went 13-1 during the league.  The Bombers' career record in the league is 178 and 133.  
They hold the current records against current GCL league members:
Elder: 28-51
La Salle: 21-58
Moeller: 65-14

Upcoming Schedule:
The Bombers meet up with the undefeated Oak Hills Highlanders on the 9th and return to Poelking Woodman Lanes for the Blue and Gold District Preview on the 12th.  The Bombers end the year with a home match against Colerain.  

Around the GCL:
The quad victory gives the Elder Panthers the GCL title with a record of  9-3.  Moeller's second place in the quad forced a 2 way tie for second in the league as the Lancers and Bombers finished at 6-6 on the season.  Moeller will finish in fourth at a record of 3-9.
