Bombers Beat the Elder Panthers

The Bowling Bombers returned to Western Bowl on Thursday evening for a GCL tilt against first place Elder.  The Bombers had split the first two match ups with the Panthers getting the win in the La Salle Quad but dropping a head to head match up.  The Panthers sat atop the GCL heading into the match.  

In game one, the Bombers and Panthers struggled putting up an 891 and 803.  The Bombers' Tyler Brown was the only Bomber in game one to put up a 200 with a 209.  Brady Johnson, sophomore, threw a 189.  Andrew Berkemeier, Keegan Barbee, Aaron Bickford, and Brock Lusby combined threw games of 168, 163, and 162.  Ben Seger for the Panthers was the high man with a game of 193.

In game two, the Bombers got comfortable with Andrew Berkemeier leading the charge with a 237 and a 405 series.  Brady Johnson gets his first two game series of the year throwin a 235 and his first 424 series on the year.  Keegan Barbee rolled a 175 for a 338 series.  Junior Tyler Brown rolls his highest series as a Bomber putting up a 226 for a match high 435 series!  Ben Seger shot a 236 for the Panthers for an Elder high of 429.  Heading to bakers, the Bombers led 1913 to 1757.

In bakers, Elder pushed the Bombers with games of 204, 167, 235, and 233 for an 839 series.  The Bombers answered back in with a combined 25 strikes, 13 spares, and only 5 opens to shoot games of 189, 225, 216, and 226 for an 856 total. 

The Bombers move to 6-3 in the GCL and the Panthers fall to 6-3.  The Bombers win 2771 to 2596.

Record Performances
The Bombers' 856 in bakers is the 17th best baker series in school history.  Tyler Brown's 435 and Brady Johnson's 424 are varsity career highs for both bowlers.  

Upcoming Schedule:
The Bombers wrap up January with back to back roadtrips.  On Monday, they travel to Rollhouse Lanes in Fairfield to battle Hamilton on January 30th.  Then on Tuesday, the Bombers follow 75 North to Dayton to take on Kettering-Fairmont on the 31st.  The GCL ends with a crucial Quad match on Thursday the 2nd at 4PM.  The Bombers then stay at Western to take on Oak Hills on the 9th and return to Poelking Woodman Lanes for the Blue and Gold District Preview.  The Bombers end the year with a home match against Colerain.  

Around the GCL:
La Salle handled the Crusaders on Thursday, 2744 to 2463.  The GCL quad will determine the winner of the GCL South with Elder and St. X tied at 6-3, La Salle a game back at 5-4, and Moeller at 1-8.
