Bowling Bombers Fall to Kettering-Fairmont
The Bowling Bombers were back at home on Tuesday February 8th hosting the defending state champions of division one, the Kettering-Fairmont Firebirds. The Bombers opened a home and home series with the Firebirds last season where the Bombers lost a shootout 3024 to 2919. Before last season, the Bombers and Kettering-Fairmont had never met in a head to head match. The Firebirds entered into this match 9 and 3 on the season and in 3rd place in the GWOC.
The Bombers opened up scoring in the first game with Zack Beard throwing down a 223, Jared Littelmann putting up a 215, and Jalen Morrow crossing the 200 threshold with a 203. Chris Obert shot a 197 and Allen Rosal put up a 166. The Firebirds had a huge game by sophomore Isaiah Shannon with a 290 and 3 other games of 196 or higher. The Bombers trailed the Firebirds 1076 to 1004.
Last year, Chris Ober set the school record rolling against the Firebirds and he got hot in game 2 for the Bombers putting up a 267 for a 464 series. Jared Littelmann completed his 435 series with a 220 game and Jalen Morrow shot a 222 for his 425 series. Zack Beard rolled a 190 on his way to a 413 series. Andrew Berkemeier finished the day with a 182 in game 2. The Firebirds answered with games of 248 and 220 by Liam Ramsey and Isaiah Shannon, who shot a 510 series. The Bombers finished game 2 with a 1081 while the Firebirds shot a 1004 for themselves. Going into Bakers, the Bombers held a slip 2085 to 2080 lead.
In bakers, the Firebirds erased the lead in the first game going 219 to the Bombers 190. In game two, Kettering-Fairmont put more distance between themselves and the Bombers with a 258 to 187 game. The Bombers finished with games of 174 and 209 for a 760 series while Kettering-Fairmont completed games of 171 and 194 for an 842 series. The Bombers fall to Kettering-Fairmont 2922 to 2845. The Firebirds move to 10 and 3 on the season and the Bombers go to 8 and 6.

Heading into the match, the Bombers were recognized by CincyBowling in their city rankings. The Bombers came into the match as the 6th best team in the city averaging 2705 per match. Four individual Bombers were currently ranked as well: Jared Littelmann in 10th, Allen Rosal in 44th, Jalen Morrow in 48th, and Zack Beard in 82nd. In the Kettering-Fairmont match, Chris Obert put up more record breaking performances. His 267 is the 42nd best individual game in school history and his 464 two-game series was 84th best. As a team, the Bombers 1081 was the 35th best team game in the Bowling Bombers history and the 2845 ranks as the 44th best match series.
Upcoming Schedule
The Bombers will recognize all 7 seniors when they play Taylor High School on February 11th with pictures scheduled for 5:30 and the match set to begin at 6PM. The final GCL Quad of the year has been moved to a 4PM start on February 27th. The Bombers end the season on the road against the Oak Hills Highlanders on February 18th.
