Bombers Ground Aviators

The Bowling Bombers kicked off the 2022-2023 season with an away match against the Sycamore Aviators at Crossgate lanes Tuesday afternoon. The Aviators and Bombers have not rolled each other since February 2019, a close match that Sycamore won on St Xavier senior night. The Bombers look to a team of juniors to replace the 6 varsity members that graduated in the spring.

In game one, the Keegan Barbee, brother of 2020 Bowling Bomber Graduate Josh, pushed the Bombers with a game one score of 233. Andrew Berkemeier rolled a 193 and Aaron Bickford put up a 172 while the Bombers shot a game one score of 884. Sycamore had high games of 265 and 209 to lead the Bombers with a 954.

Aaron Bickford stepped up for the Bombers cruising to a 233 in game 2 for a 405 series. Keegan Barbee rounded out his 431 with a 198 and Andrew Berkemeier posted a 189 for a 382 on the day. The Aves rolled a team 812 with a high game of 189 as the Bombers took the lead with a 991. Going to bakers, the Bombers led 1875 to 1766.

In bakers, the Bombers shot a 698 to Sycamores 584 to seal a 2573 to 2350 victory. The Bombers move to 1-0 on the season and Sycamore falls to 0-1.

Historical Notes:
The Bombers move to 3 and 1 all time against Sycamore. The win is also the 240th win in program history.

Upcoming Schedule:
The Bombers roll in the Elks Invitational on Saturday November 26th hosted by Centerville High School and Poelking Lanes South. The Bombers continue on the road against Mason High School at Mason Bowl on Monday November 28th. St. Xavier finally plays at home for the first time in a GCL tilt against LaSalle at 6PM on December 1st.
